OASIS
Observational Assessment Study for IBD in Saudi Arabia
A national, multicenter, prospective registry tracking the epidemiology, treatment patterns, and clinical outcomes of inflammatory bowel disease across Saudi Arabia, governed by the SGA.
Registry Mission
OASIS aims to establish a comprehensive, prospective national database for IBD patients across Saudi Arabia. The registry seeks to facilitate the collection of clinical data of interest for clinical care practice, and to carry out collaborative multicentre studies using clinical data and biological samples.
Inspired by successful international models such as the Spanish ENEIDA registry (60,000+ patients) and the ECCO CONFER registry, OASIS represents the first comprehensive national IBD registry in the region.
Key Objectives
Map IBD epidemiology across all Saudi regions, including prevalence, incidence, and phenotypic characteristics
Track real-world treatment patterns, drug effectiveness, and safety outcomes including biologics and advanced therapies
Enable collaborative multicentre research and support Saudi investigators in producing high-quality publications
Benchmark quality of care against international standards and identify areas for improvement
Build a biobank of DNA and biological samples for genetic and environmental determinant studies
Threefold Registry Function
Clinical Care Tool
A source of rapid clinical data searches for healthcare reports, in-person or remote consultations, and clinical decision support.
National Reference Registry
A comprehensive reference database for scientific centres across Saudi Arabia and the GCC, providing population-level IBD data.
Collaborative Research Platform
A multicentre registry for scientific use regulated by the SGA, enabling collaborative studies and high-quality publications.
