IBD Masterclass 2026 Completes Its Four Pre-Conference Workshops — From Nursing to Research

Over two days, IBD Masterclass 2026 ran four capped-seat, hands-on pre-conference workshops — intestinal ultrasound, nutrition, IBD nursing, and research — before its two-day main scientific programme opened at Crowne Plaza Riyadh RDC.

IBD Masterclass 2026 opened with a full pre-conference day of capped-seat, hands-on workshops — four tracks across nursing, nutrition, research and intestinal ultrasound — completed over Thursday 10 and Friday morning 11 September, just ahead of the two-day main scientific programme at Crowne Plaza Riyadh RDC.

The day began Thursday morning with the Intestinal Ultrasound in IBD Workshop at King Khalid University Hospital, directed by Dr. Mansour Al Tuwaijri and Prof. Nahla Azzam, and closed Thursday evening with the Hands-On Nutrition in IBD Clinical Workshop back at Crowne Plaza, directed by Dr. Abdulelah Almutairdi — both run in a small-group, hands-on format rather than a lecture hall.

Friday morning brought two further tracks running in parallel: the IBD Nurse Course, directed by Dr. Mashary Attamimi, opened with foundational lectures from Dr. Hussam Al Humaidi and a session on IBD nursing across the patient journey from Seigha Mohammed and Nora Alfridan, before closing with round-table discussions on assessment before advanced therapy, patient counseling, disease flares and disease monitoring; and the Hands-On IBD Research Workshop, which took residents and fellows from a local research question through to a mentor-reviewed, one-page research concept.

Across all four tracks, the format stayed consistent: small groups, named faculty directors, and a hands-on deliverable — a scanning skill, a nutrition plan, a nursing round-table takeaway, or a research concept — rather than a passive lecture audience.

With all four pre-conference workshops now complete, IBD Masterclass 2026's main scientific programme opened the same day at Crowne Plaza Riyadh RDC. Full coverage of the intestinal ultrasound, nutrition and research workshops is available on the SGA newsroom, alongside the complete pre-conference workshop listing on the IBD Masterclass website.
