A regional stocktake of biologic drug use for IBD in Saudi Arabia -- and the data gaps that remain.
Syed A. Gardezi, Turki AlAmeel and Eman AlSulais
This narrative review pulls together the limited published evidence on biologic drug use, cost, and outcomes among Saudi patients with inflammatory bowel disease. Infliximab and adalimumab dominate current prescribing, newer agents show promise in patients who fail anti-TNF therapy, and quality of life improves substantially for most patients on biologics, though treatment costs vary widely. The authors call for a national IBD registry to fill the evidence gaps and guide future policy.
